Gear Pump Design & Development

Worked as Design Engineer of gear pumps for Dynamatic Technologies.

Worked on more than 30 gear pump projects and 6 of them are new concepts. These pumps are designed for L&T, John Deere, SDF Group, Terex, JCB etc. Visited M&M Zaheerabad plant to check design feasibility of gear pump in Rice trans-planter. I am confident in visiting customer places and supplier places to troubleshoot any design related issues.

Design of customized gear pumps is like tailored fit suits. Being a design engineer I was proficient in

  1. Understanding customer requirement from the Questionnaire filled.
  2. Selecting suitable pump model or creating new concepts to meet the requirements.
  3. Design calculations for Torque transmitting, Axial load on shaft, bearing selection and any other calculation if required etc.
  4. Preparing tolerance stack up to Assembly and seal seating zones.
  5. Creating proposal drawing and creating preliminary BOM for the proposed design.
  6. Upon approval of proposed concept, Sending BOM for costing and commercial discussion.
  7. Detailed drawing of concept, Analysis ( structural and dynamic).
  8. Prototype development and Testing.
  9. Releasing for production.
  10. Software used under this projects are Creo Parametric, Creo Simulation, ERP, Windchill and Hyper-mesh.

Gear Pump Design Type-1

Gear pumps with Aluminium body and Cast iron flange and cover. These pumps are capable of withstanding pressure up to 250 bar. These are the pumps used in many industrial applications and tractors. These pumps are designed in single and tandem type. Tandem pumps are used in Tractors with power steering. Front and Rear outlet of tandem pump will be connected to power steering system and hydraulic aggregate of tractor. M&M tractors, John Deere, SDF group, Preeth, Escorts are the major customers for this group.

Gear Pump Design Type-2

As the field of hydraulic industry evolved, requirement for pump with high pressure rating came in to play. Cast iron pumps are the best ans to this. Due to the shock absorbing capacity of Cast Iron, these pumps are capable of taking pressure up to 350bar and good shock abosrbing capacity makes them to use widely in earth moving machines and cranes. Terex , Ace and JCB are the major customers of this group.
